Mission Statement

East Park Baptist Church is a Bible-based ministry that exists to glorify God by reaching the world for Christ and making disciples that are sincere in worship, unified in love, and equipped for service.

Core Values

Word of God—The Bible is the authoritative, timeless revelation of God expressing His will to man; therefore, it is the basis for all we do and teach (2 Tim. 3:16-17; John 17:17).

Salvation by Grace—Sinful mankind is reconciled to a holy God on the grounds of undeserved grace through the means of faith in Jesus Christ alone; therefore, we reject any so-called salvation that is achieved through merit or good works and preach faith in Jesus Christ alone as man’s only hope of salvation (Rom. 3.28; Gal. 2:16; Eph. 2:8-9).

Teaching and Preaching—Through preaching that God is pleased to save them that believe; therefore, we systematically preach the Word of God so that sinners may repent and believers may grow in grace (1 Cor. 1:21; 1 Pet. 2:2).

Missions—Christ has commissioned the church to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth; therefore, we actively support global outreach that makes disciples of Jesus Christ among all nations (Mat. 20:18-20).

Community & Outreach—God has transformed our lives and placed us in Decatur; therefore, we are committed to active outreach in our city which will enable us to proclaim the gospel to our fellow citizens (Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20).

Excellence—God is worthy of our best, and the way we do things reflects on Him; therefore, we strive to excel in all areas in order to give the right opinion of Him (Ps. 115:1; 1 Cor. 10:31; Rev.5:9).

Service—Jesus was a servant, and the Holy Spirit has gifted each believer with a unique way to contribute to the body of Christ; therefore, we seek to equip believers to use their gifts for the work of Christ’s ministry (Mat. 20:28; Eph. 4:11-13).

People—Individuals matter to God. They are not merely the means to His work, but are also the essence of it; therefore, we value people above programs (Gen. 1:27; Heb. 2:9; James 2:1).

Authenticity—Biblical relationships require honesty and genuineness; therefore, we promote transparency and accountability to one another as we strive to help each other live worthy of our glorious calling. (Rom. 12:17; 2 Cor. 1:12; 1 Thess. 2:10).

Spiritual Growth—God wants all His children to be like His Son; therefore, we help each other make steady, spiritual growth-steps through God’s sufficient grace (2 Pet. 1:3; Heb. 10:24-25).
